The first half of 2014 seems to have flown past! It has been a busy few months teaching and taking part in exhibitions including Contemporary British Silversmiths exhibition with the Danish silversmiths as part of their biannual exhibition in the Danish Silver-Museum “Koldinghus” in Kolding, Denmark.

One of the most recent pieces I have made was the faceted silver carafe which was exhibited on the Bishopsland stand at Collect 2014. The piece is the tallest piece I have made using the process of CNC milling and press forming.

One of my aims for 2014 is to add a variety of materials and colour into my jewellery and silversmithing work. The process I use with computer aided design and CNC milling lends itself to other areas of design as well as silverware. The idea of creating products in different materials is something I would like to develop. Last month I was fortunate to be awarded one of Creative Scotland’s Artist bursaries to allow time and resources to pursue this idea.
With exciting opportunities coming up in the next 6 months I am working to develop the faceted silverware and also work on a new range of jewellery which will explore the use of different faceted wooden forms and gemstones with precious metals.
